Gun control is a wonderful idea. Surely fewer people would be killed with guns, if there were fewer guns. But, I think there is a more pressing need. I read in the Bathroom Reader that 50 people a year go to the emergency room due to pillows. That is not a large number and may not stir your blood. But, I feel confident that more people are injured and killed by furniture. Either people fall over furniture or are hit with a piece of it. However, I do not think that there should be gun control and furniture control at the same time. Otherwise, when a crook breaks into my house with an illegal gun, I will have nothing left to defend myself.
Another over looked hazard is nose picking. After all, that digit is probing close to the brain. I'm confident that most injuries from this habit are not reported because the person is too embarrassed to admit the cause of the brain injury. If it became common knowledge, laws would be passed so that everyone would be required to have their index and pinky fingers tapped to their palms. In that condition, how would I defend myself with furniture against and intruder with a gun?
